PERSONAL:
MOLLY STAGGERS HOME FROM THE PARTY:
The graphic says it all. I'll be back in touch tomorrow in the height of my hangover. New Year's Eve was actually quite boring this year, but at least I got happily drunk. Everybody should do this regularly. It puts the proper perspective on life. "Life" should never be taken too seriously. It is, after all, a merely temporary aberration between two nothingnesses. The passing of a year should remind us of this limitation to our existence, with all the good and bad that this implies. Anyways, enough philosophy...HAPPY NEW YEAR...SEE YOU IN THE MORNING WITH IT'S OWN CLARITY AND SADNESS AND JOY.

Happy New Year! I have long felt that alcohol and its aftereffects have the delightfully paradoxical ability to leave one both with a small residue of moral clarity and a sense of immunization against the worst things in life. Were it not for hangovers, many times over the years I would have felt so great in the morning that I would have realized just how bad things were! I recommend steak and eggs, a large fruit juice, followed by several coffees as a hangover cure. Have an enjoyable morning.

I have yet to meet an emotional problem that wasn't easily cured by a good solid bender. It isn't a very good solution for financial or some other problem I must admit.
This is despite the fact that it was reputed to be the practice of the ancient Persian Empire to thrash out their problems at wild booze-ups and THEN to re-examine the proposal they came up with the next day in the "hangover phase" of their decision making. The Persian Empire lasted for cenrturies and was only finally defeated by "Alexander the Grape" who reportedly could outdrink pretty near anyone.

My late dear old dad used to say of all alcohol, quoting the Go(o)d Book: "Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder." However, if you ask me, this is just an argument for never drinking anything alcoholic that isn't gold or brown in colour. The proverbial proverbializer goes on: "Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things." In my experience, this part is most certainly true. But is that a bad thing?

It can be a bad thing if your wife- or worse yet your husband- catches you. My own opinion is "all things in moderation" ie be neither the drunkest nor the soberest person at the party.
